TEXAS – Tonight, the Texas AFL-CIO released the following statement after workers decisively elected pro-worker candidates:

“With Texas union membership at a 25-year high, it’s no coincidence that we just took back our state. Texans workers have declared that corrupt politicians who side with billionaires will not serve us,” said Texas AFL-CIO President Leonard Aguilar. “Tonight is a mandate. Workers are organizing and changing Texas for the better — and we won’t settle for any less than we deserve. Together, union members knocked on tens of thousands of doors and made more than 200,000 calls, because we understood what was on the line in this election.”

“We will continue to invest and grow our union movement because the fight doesn’t end here. Our work is only getting started — and Texas is the biggest battleground state for 2028. When we fight, we win!”

As part of the Texas AFL-CIO’s member to member program, union members knocked more than 50,000 doors, made more than 210,000 calls, sent more than 510,000 texts, and mailed more than 280,000 letters leading up to the polls closing today. The door-knocking effort surpassed the federation's 2024 total. Additionally, several affiliates ran independent campaigns reaching hundreds of thousands of other voters across Texas.
